BEACON India, TREC-STEP’s Green Climate Fund (GCF) Programme on Climate Innovation Incubation, approved by the GCF Board in South Korea

TREC-STEP is glad to share the wonderful news that our programme, BEACON India, (Building Ecosystem for Accelerating Contribution to NDC through Climate Innovation Incubation for India), has been approved by the Green Climate Fund (GCF) Board on 29th October 2025, at the GCF Headquarters at Incheon City, Republic of Korea. The project has been approved for a GCF support of USD 25 million, with a total project outlay of USD 94 million. TREC-STEP and TATA Capital will be partnering in this pioneering initiative, with SIDBI serving as the accredited entity to GCF. The programme has been widely appreciated as a first-of-its-kind initiative, focusing on developing an innovation and incubation ecosystem for nurturing high-impact climate ventures and is expected to serve as a model for replication, globally. The BEACON India Programme will be launched early next year.

The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamilnadu, Thiru. M. K. Stalin felicitates Mr. R. M. P. Jawahar, Executive Director, TREC STEP for his significant and sustained Contribution in the field of Incubation and Innovation in the country Mr. R. M. P. Jawahar, Executive Director, TREC STEP was felicitated by the Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, on behalf of the Indian Business Incubators Association, ISBA, for his “sustained contribution and efforts in the field of incubation and innovation and for his immense contribution to the incubator ecosystem to develop enterprises and innovation in the country’. The Award ceremony was held on 10th January, 2022 during ISBA Annual Conference, ISBACON 2022 at Chennai.

Smart Incubator of the Year 2022

TREC-STEP has been awarded the ‘Smart Incubator of the Year 2022’, by India Smart Grid Forum (ISGF), a Ministry of Power, Government of India’s Public Private Partnership Forum. The Smart Incubator Award was received by Mr. R. M. P. Jawahar, Executive Director, TREC-STEP in the award ceremony organized by the India Smart Grid Forum, at New Delhi, yesterday, the 4th March, 2022. This ISGF Award 2022, is given in recognition of TREC-STEP’s Business Incubation Performance, Innovation and Societal Impact, especially for the contributions to the Energy Sector.

Felicitation by the Ministry of Science and Technology, 2022

The Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India, felicitated Mr. R. M. P. Jawahar, Executive Director, TREC-STEP on the 12th August, 2022, at New Delhi, on the occasion of the Start-up Utsav organized by the Ministry, to commemorate the 75 Years of Indian Independence. The felicitation is an ‘Appreciation and recognition of his notable contribution towards Innovation, Incubation and Start-up Ecosystem in the country’.
